ZSL Library & Archives is happy to announce that due to generous funding, historic ZSL Annual Reports have been digitised by Max Communications and the images our now available on the ZSL Archives catalogue.
In 2026, ZSL will be 200 years old, marking two centuries of discovery, pioneering, inspiring and delighting through science, conservation and our two zoos. The rapidly approaching anniversary has sparked great interest in our history, and the most common starting point is the Annual Reports. They contain a wealth of information such as lists of Members of Council, Honorary Fellows and details of Membership; Financial Summaries; updates on both zoos; details of scientific activities and research at the Institute of Zoology; details of educational activities; general matters such as publicity, staff training, awards, appointments and promotions, retirements, resignations and obituaries; lists of Committees and members of staff; publications; lists of animals received that year; lists of donors of animals to ZSL; books presented to the Library; and details of meetings.
